The Office of Cooperative Election Authority has directed Oriental Agro Multistate Cooperative Society Limited to amend its bye-laws in line with the amended provisions of the Ministry of Cooperation’s Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002, revised in 2023.

In a communication dated May 12, 2026, the Cooperative Election Authority (CEA) informed the society that its existing bye-laws do not adequately provide for elections to be conducted by the CEA, as mandated under Sections 45-I and 45-J of the amended Act.

The Authority also pointed out that provisions related to filling casual vacancies through the CEA and updated election regulations must be incorporated into the bye-laws.

The CEA further instructed the society to prepare and publish an updated members’ list as on March 31, 2026, on its website for members’ information and necessary action. The letter also highlighted other key amendments in the revised MSCS Act, including provisions related to contribution towards the Education Fund.

The society has been asked to submit the approved amended bye-laws to the CEA to enable the Authority to announce the election programme for the Board of Directors and office bearers.
