The Centre has clearly barred companies from forcing the sale of nano fertilisers by bundling them with other agricultural inputs, as per the latest notification issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The order, issued under the Fertiliser (Control) Order, 1985, directs notified manufacturers, including Coromandel International Limited, Ray Nano Sciences and Research Centre and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited, to ensure that nano fertilisers are not sold through any form of compulsory tagging with other fertilisers or agri-input products.

It further mandates that companies must provide clear, crop-wise usage details, including dosage, stage of application, and method of use, either on the product label or through an accompanying leaflet.

In addition, manufacturers are required to organise demonstrations for farmers at Krishi Vigyan Kendras to showcase the benefits of nano fertilisers.

The notification also separately specifies product standards and allows manufacturing of notified nano fertilisers for a period of one year from the date of publication.
