DICGC settles Rs 518 Cr claims during April-Sept 2025

Risk-Based Deposit Insurance Premium for Co-op Banks from April 1

The Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) has settled deposit insurance claims amounting to Rs 518 crore during the period April–September 2025. The claims were towards main and supplementary payouts for banks placed under liquidation or amalgamation.

During the same period, DICGC received Rs 718 crore as repayment, strengthening the Deposit Insurance Fund (DIF).

As of September 30, 2025, the DIF stood at Rs 2,46,292 crore, with the Reserve Ratio improving to 2.31%.

DICGC provides deposit insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per depositor per bank. As per the latest data, 1,957 banks are registered with DICGC, including 1,833 cooperative banks. Notably, 98.1% of cooperative bank accounts are fully protected under the current insurance limit.

The latest figures highlight DICGC’s ongoing efforts in timely claim settlement and recovery management within the insured banking system.
