No Surge, No Commission: Delhi CM welcomes ‘Bharat Taxi’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday welcomed the launch of ‘Bharat Taxi’, India’s first cooperative taxi service, calling it a transformative step towards empowering drivers and strengthening the cooperative movement.

In a post on social media, the Chief Minister said the initiative gives new momentum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi”. She thanked Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah for launching the service, which she described as a milestone in ensuring dignity, self-respect and better earnings for driver-partners.

Gupta said the cooperative taxi model would free drivers from heavy commission burdens, enabling them to become true stakeholders rather than mere service providers. She noted that the initiative would also offer relief to commuters by eliminating surge pricing while ensuring safe and affordable travel in the national capital.

Highlighting the ‘Sarathi Didi’ initiative, the Chief Minister said it would significantly strengthen women’s safety, empowerment and self-reliance by encouraging greater participation of women drivers in the sector.

Calling the initiative a strong step towards inclusive growth and Antyodaya, Gupta expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister for laying the foundation for a brighter and more secure future for drivers across the country.
