Bengaluru witnessed a significant milestone in India’s cooperative and agricultural journey with the inauguration of the fourth IFFCO Nano Fertiliser Plant, reinforcing the country’s push towards self-reliance and sustainable farming.

The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Dileep Sanghani, Chairman of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), in the presence of Vice Chairman Balvir Singh, Managing Director K J Patel and members of the Board of Directors, senior officials, and representatives from IFFCO’s State Marketing Office in Karnataka.

With a robust production capacity of around two lakh bottles per day, the Bengaluru plant is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and consistent availability of nano fertilisers across South India. The facility significantly strengthens IFFCO’s supply chain network in the region and is poised to support millions of farmers by providing innovative, efficient and cost-effective agricultural inputs.

Nano fertilisers, pioneered and promoted by IFFCO, are considered a major breakthrough in modern agriculture. Designed using advanced nanotechnology, these fertilisers enhance nutrient use efficiency, reduce wastage, and lower the overall requirement of conventional chemical fertilisers. Experts note that nano fertilisers not only help in reducing input costs for farmers but also contribute to soil health, water conservation and reduced environmental impact, key priorities in the era of climate change.

Speaking on the occasion, IFFCO Chairman Sanghani underlined that the new plant is not merely an industrial expansion but a symbol of Swadeshi innovation and the realisation of the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Krishi. By indigenously producing advanced nano-based agricultural inputs, IFFCO is reducing dependence on imported fertilisers and empowering Indian farmers with home-grown technological solutions.

IFFCO has been at the forefront of introducing nano fertilisers in India, with Nano Urea and Nano DAP gaining increasing acceptance among farmers in recent years. According to official assessments and field demonstrations, nano fertilisers have shown promising results in maintaining crop yields while reducing the excessive use of traditional fertilisers. The expansion of production capacity through the Bengaluru unit is expected to further accelerate adoption in southern states, where diverse cropping patterns and high-input agriculture demand efficient nutrient solutions.

Beyond its technological and economic significance, the new plant reflects the enduring strength of India’s cooperative movement. Founded on the principles of collective ownership, trust and shared prosperity, IFFCO represents over 36,000 cooperative societies and serves millions of farmers across the country. The Bengaluru milestone reaffirms the cooperative’s commitment to translating the philosophy of cooperation into tangible benefits at the grassroots level.

The inauguration also aligns with the broader national objective of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation), championed by the Ministry of Cooperation. By combining innovation with cooperative values, IFFCO continues to position itself as a key driver of sustainable agricultural growth, farmer prosperity and national development.

With the commissioning of its fourth nano fertiliser plant, IFFCO has once again underlined its role as a torchbearer of cooperative-led innovation, setting the stage for a more resilient, self-reliant and environmentally sustainable future for Indian agriculture.
