Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, stated that the Government has made remarkable progress in strengthening Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and expanding the cooperative network across rural India.

Shah informed the House that under the Government of India’s Rs 2,925.39-crore PACS Computerization Project, a total of 79,630 PACS across 31 States/UTs have been approved for computerisation.

Of these, 60,424 PACS have already been onboarded onto the common ERP-based national software, while hardware procurement has been completed by 30 States/UTs. The move aims to modernize PACS operations, enhance transparency, and link them seamlessly with NABARD through StCBs and DCCBs.

In his reply, Amit Shah further highlighted the progress made under the Government’s plan to establish new multipurpose PACS, dairy, and fishery cooperatives to ensure coverage of every panchayat and village over the next five years.

As per the National Cooperative Database, 30,083 new cooperatives have been registered, and 15,793 dairy and fishery cooperatives have been strengthened across the country as on 15 November 2025.

Shah said these initiatives reflect the Government’s commitment to realise the vision of “Sahakar Se Samriddhi” by deepening the cooperative movement nationwide.
