Demand for honouring father of white revolution Verghese Kurien with Bharat Ratna gained momentum on the occasion of his first death anniversary.
In an event at Anand, headquarters of GCMMF on Monday Kurien’s daughter Nirmala Kurien unveiled his bust and launched a dedicated website www.drkurien.com. Mrs Nirmala emphasized the importance of developing human resources and said that her father was adept at it.
GCMMF officials including its Chairman Vipul Chaudhary and MD R S Sodhi demanded the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna for Kurien.
Chaudhary said Kurien engineered a great social revolution uplifting lakhs of farmers and thus is a natural claimant of the top award.
Sodhi said that awarding Bharat Ratna to Kurien would amount to honouring crores of dairy farmers of the nation.
Entire board of GCMMF, producer of AMUL was present on this occasion.
