In the 124th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Navin Kumar, a weaver from Silao in Bihar’s Nalanda district. Kumar, who belongs to the Nepura Silk Primary Weavers Cooperative Committee Limited, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the recognition during an interaction with Akashvani News.

He shared that weaving is his family’s traditional occupation, and the formation of the cooperative has significantly changed their fortunes. Today, 261 weavers and workers are part of the group, helping one another become self-reliant. The cooperative is also known for crafting the renowned Bawan Booty sari and silk yarn.

While Kumar thanked the Union Ministry of Textiles for supporting their efforts, he pointed out that marketing and securing fair prices for their products remain ongoing challenges. The Prime Minister’s appreciation, however, has given the weaver community a renewed sense of pride and encouragement.
