Following the successful completion of the ICA Global Conference, inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, NCUI President Dileep Sanghani led the organization in executing a series of significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

One of the MoUs was with NCCF, focusing on the promotion of Bharat Brand products via NCUI’s e-commerce platform, NCUI Haat. Another agreement was signed with the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) to enhance the cooperative movement in Ladakh. Additionally, NCUI partnered with the Handicrafts and Carpet Sector Skill Council (HCSSC) to provide skill development training for artisans and strengthen cooperative efforts in the handicrafts and carpet sectors.

The event, organized at its headquarters, brought together key stakeholders to formalize partnerships with the National Consumer Cooperative Federation (NCCF), the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), and the Handicrafts and Carpet Sector Skill Council (HCSSC).

One of the agreements was signed with HCSSC to enhance skill development for artisans and members of cooperative societies in the handicrafts and carpet sectors. This collaboration aims to bridge skill gaps, introduce technological advancements, and empower local artisans to modernize and sustain traditional crafts. HCSSC CEO Krishan Kumar emphasized the importance of this initiative in fostering creativity and sustainability in the sector.

NCUI CEO Dr. Sudhir Mahajan highlighted how the collaboration aligns with NCUI’s mission of “Sahkar Se Samridhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation) by creating opportunities for artisans and strengthening cooperatives.

Another significant MoU was signed with LAHDC to strengthen the cooperative movement in Ladakh. LAHDC Chairman Advocate Tashi Gyalson expressed his gratitude for NCUI’s support in promoting the region’s unique products, such as handicrafts and sustainable agriculture. He underscored the importance of onboarding Ladakhi products onto NCUI’s e-commerce platform, NCUI Haat, to connect them with a broader market.

The partnership also focuses on empowering local communities through training programs, forming cooperatives, and implementing development initiatives. Executive Councillor Stanzin Chosphel and LAHDC CEO Santosh Sukhadeve highlighted the progress made in Ladakh through recent initiatives, including the formation of over 30 cooperatives with support from organizations like Art of Living and Samaarambh Foundation.

In addition, NCUI signed an MoU with NCCF to integrate Bharat Brand products into NCUI Haat. This collaboration is expected to enhance the visibility and accessibility of NCCF’s products, providing mutual benefits in areas such as logistics, farm extension, and skill development.

NCCF Managing Director Anice Joseph Chandra assured full support in these areas and emphasized the potential of this partnership to boost both organizations’ goals.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. Parvinder Singh, Advisor to NCUI; Ramachandran, former Director of IFFCO; and Sumit Singh, Advisor at NCUI.

They discussed strategies to empower local communities and promote cooperative-led growth in different regions. These agreements represent a significant milestone in NCUI’s efforts to foster development through cooperatives, skill enhancement, and market integration, contributing to India’s vision of inclusive growth.
