It was a big day for cooperative titan IFFCO when its Vice-Chairman Dileep Sanghani met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and invited him to inaugurate one of IFFCO’s most cherished projects–Nano Technology.

Sanghani met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Parliamentary office on Saturday and invited him for  the  inauguration. “The fact that despite the pressure of the ongoing Parliamentary session, Modi could afford to give time to a co-op issue, shows his trust in the cooperative movement”, commented a few co-operators.

Talking to Indian Cooperative soon after the meeting, Sanghani said “PM listened to my words patiently; the meeting lasted  more than 25 minutes and we discussed issues related to cooperatives. IFFCO NanoTechnology was the main topic of discussion. I have invited him to inaugurate the IFFCO’s Nano experiment”, he added.

Sanghani who enjoys familial relationship with Narendra Modi had earlier- a year ago had briefed the PM about Nano fertilisers. “We are planning to get it launched virtually by  PM Narendra Modi”, said Sanghani giving details of the upcoming event.

In his meeting with  Prime Minister Modi, Sanghani also gave him details of field trials being conducted by IFFCO across states.

We are also planning to connect farmers through IFFCO centres, KVKs  and other networks so that a very large number of farmers could get first-hand experience of Nano, underlined Sanghani.

Sanghani also informed that the Nano project has already got the approval of the two ministries– agriculture and fertilizer. Later, Sanghani met  Union Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala and briefed him about his meeting with the PM.

As soon as the details of the meeting of the NCUI President and IFFCO’s Vice-Chairman with the PM became public, cooperative social media got flooded with congratulatory messages. After all, it is not every day that a co-operator happens to meet one of the busiest Prime Ministers in the world, commented co-operators.

It bears recall that the Nano products have been developed indigenously at the IFFCO Nano Biotechnology Research Centre (NBRC) in the Kalol Unit. Recently, IFFCO launched another Nano lab in its Aonla unit.

It is being said that these Nano-structured formulations will reduce the requirement of conventional nitrogen chemical fertilizers by 50%, deliver nutrition to the plant in an environmentally sustainable manner and be available to the farmers at reduced costs.

The field trials of IFFCO’s Nano fertilizers have been hogging the media headlines, with the IFFCO MD batting from the front. He keeps posting stories and videos of their successful trials from across the country. Experts also believe that if it passes the test it may prove to be a game-changer not only for India but also the world.

Congratulations to IFFCO & particularly Dr. US Awasthi for innovative ideas & encouraging IFFCO’s scientists to develop Nano Technology. This will not only help farmers of the country & world to reduce cost but save the mother soil which has been deteriorating over excessive use of Nitrogen. This will also give boost to our PM vision of increasing the income of our farmers. Wishing all the best.
