In a bid to make IFFCO’s Nano experimentation a pan Indian experience, its Vice-Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani met Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his Parliamentary office on Wednesday and sought his support for IFFCO’s ambitious project.

Listening to Sanghani’s words on the novel experiment, Prime Minister has reportedly evinced a keen interest and asked his PS Rajeev Topno to collect reports on the subject.

“We met for close to half an hour and there were just three of us- me, my wife and the Prime Minister”, said Sanghani talking to Indian Cooperative soon after the meeting. “I even told him about my personal experience with Nano fertilizers as my younger brother who is a farmer has begun using this to a great effect”, added Sanghani.

Sanghani who enjoys familial relationship with Narendra Modi had earlier- a year ago briefed the PM about Nano fertilisers. “To tell you the truth the Prime Minister, who is a very alert administrator, has sent Mansukhbhai Mandaviya to collect info on Nano fertilizers, after I had discussed Nano with him a year ago”, Sanghani revealed.

Luckily the reports submitted by Mandaviya are encouraging and we look forward to huge endorsement of Nano stuff by the Central govt, Sanghani hoped. Prime Minister Modi sounded supportive of IFFCO’s initiative, he stated.

In his meeting with the Prime Minister Modi, Sanghani also gave him details of 11000 field trials being conducted by IFFCO across states.

Later, Sanghani visited the IFFCO headquarters and briefed its MD Dr U S Awasthi about the meeting. Sanghani also wanted IFFCO to be ready with reports which are to be sent to Prime Minister’s office sooner than later.

Earlier, Sanghani had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and sought his time for the inauguration of a Nano Fertilizer plant at IFFCO’s mother unit in Kalol in Gujarat in May.

The Nano products have been developed indigenously at the IFFCO Nano Biotechnology Research Centre (NBRC) in the Kalol Unit. Recently, IFFCO launched another Nano lab in its Aonla unit.

It is being said that these nano-structured formulations will reduce the requirement of conventional nitrogen chemical fertilizers by 50%, deliver nutrition to the plant in an environmentally sustainable manner and be available to the farmers at reduced costs.

The field trials of IFFCO’s Nano fertilizers have been hogging the media headlines, with the IFFCO MD batting from the front. He keeps posting stories and videos of its successful trials from across the country. Experts also believe that if it passes the test it may prove to be a game-changer for Indian agriculture.
