In the latest development, Chhattisgarh State Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has appointed Chief Secretary R P Mandal to investigate irregularities involving Rs 500 crore in different branches of cooperative banks of the state.
Readers would recall that MLA Satyanarayana Sharma has written a letter to Agriculture Minister seeking an enquiry in this matter and the Agri Minister has forwarded the letter to CM.
On the basis of the letter, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed the Chief Secretary RP Mandal to investigate and asked him to take action against the culprits.
The irregularities were revealed in 2015, after which about a dozen officers were suspended.
