Biscomaun began its first Board meeting on Monday on a positive note of handing out a cheque of Rs 25 lakh to the widow of one of its employees who had died on duty. The money was given to the widow by the state cooperative minister Randhir Singh Rana, who was the special invitee to the first board meeting held at Biscomaun majestic headquarters in Patna.
Cooperators and co-op employees were pleasantly surprised to know that an amount as high as Rs 25 lakh could possibly be given by any co-op organization to its employees. Even the Minister could not stop and lauded Biscomaun for doing so.
Later, talking to Indian Cooperative Biscomaun Chairman Dr Sunil Kuamr Singh said that the money
was received from IFFCO-Tokio after the untimely death of our employee Bharat Mahto of Barbigha in Bihar.
Lauding IFFCO-Tokio insurance company Sunil exhorted all cooperatives in the country to avail this scheme. ‘We got all our employees insured by the co-op insurance company a couple of years ago and see the results! Biscomaun, on its own could have hardly afforded to pay this amount to the poor lady”, underlined Sunil.
“All the 700 employees of BISCOAMUN are insured today. There are two categories-one for the officers and other for the fourth class employees. While the amount is Rs 40 lakh in case of untimely death of an officer of Biscomaun, the same is Rs 25 lakh in case of a fourth grade worker”, explained the re-elected Chairman.
“I wish you to publish the story prominently so that our cooperative brothers spread across the country could understand it and take benefit from this”, Sunil said adding that all credit goes to the vision of Dr U S Awasthi, IFFCO’s MD.
Earlier, the Board felicitated the state cooperative minister and promised him to make Bihar a farm-distress free area by its efforts. Minister also appreciated the role played by the co-op body in resolving the urea crisis in the state.
