Co-op Week: CMs & Ministers join hands with cooperators

It was a big for co-operatives as more than a dozen Chief Ministers as an equal number of Ministers tore free from their busy schedule and celebrated the national day for co-ops(Cooperative Week) beginning 14th November.

Reports of Co-op Week being celebrated across states are arriving at Indian Cooperative desk since Wednesday when Union Minister of Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh inaugurated the 65th All India Cooperative Week organized by apex body of cooperatives NCUI in Delhi.

There is news coming from Uttar Pradesh that State’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya inaugurated an event organized by Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank at Sahakarita Bhawan, Lucknow along with State Cooperative Minister Mukut Bihari Verma.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also participated in an event and wrote on his Facebook wall, “With their unwavering commitment towards society and nation building, Cooperative Societies will play an instrumental role in making our Tripura a model state. Inaugurated the 65th All India Cooperative week in Agartala today”, he added.

Punjab Cooperative Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa inaugurated the event organized by Markfed along with Maharashtra Cooperative Minister Subhash Deshmukh.

Goa Minister for Public Works Department (PWD) and Transport Sudhin Dhavalikar inaugurated 65th Co-operative week commencing from November 14 to November 20, 2018, organised by Department of Cooperation at Sahakar Bhavan, Curti, Ponda, on Wednesday.

In all the events in different parts of the country the theme of the 65th Co-op Week is “Inclusive Growth and Good Governance Through Cooperatives for Rural Prosperity” was stressed by the leaders.

Sikkim State Cooperative Union also observed 65th All India Cooperative Week at Sicum Complex and posted several photographs on social media. They wrote, “Sikkim State Cooperative Union is going to observe week long program with it’s day wise nomenclature and welcomes all the interested youths to join in the program and enjoy the unexplainable benefits of Cooperatives”.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also tweeted and wrote, “National Cooperative Week begins today. Our government has been working to strengthen the cooperative society network in #Bangla by opening cooperatives in far-flung regions as well as enabling them to provide banking services and loans for agriculture & to self-help groups”.

West Bengal based Netaji Subhas Regional Institute of Cooperative Management also celebrated the day hosting the cooperative flag and organizing a seminar.
