As if trying to salvage their sagging business R S Sodhi, MD GCMMF has called upon liquor shops and bars facing the ban on liquor within 500 meters of a highway by the Supreme Court to open Amul milk bars.
Readers would recall the SC had earlier ordered a shutdown of liquor shops within 500 meters of highways. Several of the affected pub and bar owners have however, taken Sodhi’s words as a taunt.
SC had also directed the government to stop issuing licenses from March 31st unless the requisite stipulations set by the SC were met. The SC had technically banned alcohol in pubs, bars and restaurants within the stipulated distance.
It is yet to be seen how many of pub owners are going to be taker of Sodhi’s suggestion.
