The farmers’ cooperative Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) participated in DigiDhan Mela and had a separate stall geared to educating people on cashless transaction at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on the occasion of the launch of BHIM.

IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi shared the news on twitter and wrote “Today #IFFCO participated in #DigiDhan mela in #Talkatora Stadium at the Launch of #BHIM App to educate #farmers”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched BHIM- a new mobile app to make digital payments easier. He was attending his second Digi-Dhan Mela that aims at bridging divide in digital transactions and common public.

On this occasion he announced the lucky draws for Lucky Grahak Yojana, aimed for the consumers and Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojana, targeted for the small businesses, merchants and traders.

The mobile app called ‘Bhim’ stands for Bharat Interface for Money and is available for download from Android phones. The name of the app ‘Bhim’ is after Bhim Rao Ambedkar, said PM Modi, adding that the ‘Bhim’ app will empower poorest of the poor.

BHIM app is the best New Year gift I gave to country, added Modi in his speech. A committed votary of digitization, IFFCO MD has geared all resources at his command to make the campaign a success.
