Come International Forest Day and IFFCO MD gets busy reminding his followers on the importance of the day. Like in the past the fertilizer cooperative (IFFCO) resolved to protect forests on the International day of Forests celebrated on 21st March every year.

On this occasion IFFCO’s Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi tweeted “On #IntlForestDay, let’s take a pledge to care our #Forests. #IFFCO’s social forestry arm #IFFDC keeps adding to Indian forests every day.

IFFCO had promoted a separate Multi-State Cooperative Society named ‘Indian Farm Forestry Development Cooperative Limited’ (IFFDC) in 1993 with the prime objective of development of wasteland for tree plantation and to enhance the socio-economic status of rural poor through sustainable Natural Resource Management by collective action.

Having bagged several awards including Times Impact Award , IFFDC’s cooperative forests hold significance because revival and regeneration of 26,000 hectares of salt-affected ravines and waterlogged wastelands of which 12864 hectares have been developed through cooperative efforts.

Keeping pace with the calendar the Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared his views through the social Media. He tweeted “On this International Day of Forest, let us pledge to collectively work to conserve forests & increase green cover”.
