Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the BJP-led Maharashtra government of attempting to overturn the electoral mandate in the Kolhapur District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union, popularly known as Gokul Dairy.
In a post on X on November 5, Gandhi alleged that after losing the board elections, the government was changing rules to regain control of the cooperative. He claimed the proposed changes would expand the board by adding four government-nominated directors with voting rights, potentially altering the majority.
The Congress-led Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Samavichari Aghadi, headed by Satej Patil, had won 13 of the 25 seats in the October 19 elections, while the BJP-backed Mahayuti secured 12.
Calling the move “theft of milk producers’ votes”, Gandhi said farmers would not forget those responsible.
