The Arecanut Research and Development Foundation (ARDF) is planning to organise an International Arecanut Summit in 2027 in collaboration with CAMPCO, with Dharmadhikari Dr D. Veerendra Heggade assuring his full cooperation for the initiative.
The decision was discussed at an ARDF meeting held on October 26, 2026, under the chairmanship of Dr Heggade. Members also congratulated him on his 59th Pattabhisheka Vardhanti (Coronation Anniversary).
CAMPCO President and ARDF Managing Trustee S. R. Satishchandra informed the meeting that 34 arecanut samples had been received during the year from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and Customs Department for examination, reflecting the foundation’s growing national recognition.
The meeting also decided to expand ARDF’s research activities beyond arecanut to include black pepper, coffee, cocoa and rubber. Necessary amendments to the Trust Deed will be undertaken.
Discussions also focused on securing government-level recognition and exploring collaborations with universities and government research departments to establish laboratories, a library and supporting research infrastructure. Mangalore University will be approached for relevant information and further action.
