The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the period of regulatory directions imposed on Samarth Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd., Osmanabad, Maharashtra, for another three months, taking the extension up to the close of business on January 7, 2027.
The RBI had first issued directions to the bank under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, on October 6, 2025, for six months up to April 7, 2026. The directions were subsequently extended until October 7, 2026.
In its latest order, the central bank said it was satisfied that, in the public interest, the directions needed to remain in force beyond October 7, 2026. Accordingly, the RBI has extended them for a further period of three months, subject to review.
The RBI clarified that the extension or modification of the directions should not, by itself, be construed as an indication that it is satisfied with the financial position of the bank.
All other terms and conditions of the existing directions will remain unchanged.
