Union Cooperation Secretary Dr Ashish Bhutani chaired a review meeting on October 5, 2026, at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, to assess the implementation of the ‘Sahakar Van Project’, aimed at promoting cooperative participation in environmental and plantation activities.

The meeting focused on key operational issues, particularly identification of suitable land and mechanisms for long-term leasing of land for the project. Discussions covered Rajasthan, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, with officials examining state-level arrangements required to take the initiative forward.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, representatives of Forest and Panchayat Departments, and stakeholders from partner organisations participated in the meeting.

The review is part of the Ministry’s efforts to work with states and cooperative institutions to develop a practical framework for implementing the Sahakar Van initiative, with emphasis on land availability, institutional coordination and long-term sustainability.
