Social media was flooded with congratulatory messages for IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani following his election as an At-Large Director to the Global Board of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), with cooperative leaders and representatives from across India and abroad welcoming the development.
Soon after the results were announced in Panama, senior cooperative personalities took to social media to congratulate Sanghani and wish him success in his new international responsibility. The messages reflected the interest generated by the election across India’s cooperative fraternity.
Among those extending greetings were ICA-AP President Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, former IFFCO Managing Director Dr U.S. Awasthi, NAFED Chairman Jethabhai Ahir, KRIBHCO Managing Director S.S. Yadav and many more.
KRIBHCO Chairman Sudhakar Chaudhary also congratulated Sanghani on his election. Several other cooperative leaders, office-bearers and cooperators associated with different institutions and organisations joined the stream of messages, wishing him success in his new role.
The greetings came from both prominent figures in the cooperative sector and several lesser
known cooperators, making the response broad-based across the movement. Many messages referred to Sanghani’s long association with the cooperative sector and his contribution to strengthening cooperative institutions.
Sanghani’s election was particularly significant for the Indian cooperative movement as he will now serve on the global governing body of the ICA, providing India with representation in discussions concerning the international cooperative movement.
The election took place in Panama on September 15 during the ICA General Assembly and related global meetings. Sanghani had been nominated by the Indian Cooperative Movement as its candidate for an At-Large Director position.
The congratulatory messages also underlined the expectations surrounding Sanghani’s new responsibility. Cooperators wished him success in contributing to the global cooperative agenda and in strengthening cooperation among movements across countries.
For IFFCO, the election of its Chairman to the ICA Global Board represents another international platform for the Indian fertiliser cooperative to be associated with global cooperative affairs. Sanghani’s role will involve participating in the deliberations of the ICA Global Board and contributing to the organisation’s work during his tenure.
Meanwhile, Sanghani himself responded to the outpouring of greetings with a message of gratitude to
cooperators worldwide. “I am deeply grateful to the cooperative community worldwide for your overwhelming support and trust,” Sanghani said in his post.
He described being elected to represent India on the ICA Global Board as “both an honour and a responsibility”. He said he looked forward to building bridges, strengthening cooperation and working together to create meaningful impact. Sanghani further said he wanted to contribute to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future for cooperatives globally, bringing his message of gratitude and commitment to the cooperative community that supported his candidature and election.
