RBI Restrictions on UP Civil Secretariat Primary Co-op Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended its regulatory directions imposed on U.P. Civil Secretariat Primary Co-operative Bank Ltd., Lucknow, for another three months, citing the need to continue the measures in the public interest.

The directions, originally issued on March 11, 2026, were scheduled to remain in force until the close of business on September 11, 2026. RBI has now extended their validity from September 11 to December 11, 2026, subject to review.

The extension has been ordered under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

RBI, however, clarified that the extension or modification of the directions should not be construed as an indication that the central bank is satisfied with the financial position of the bank.

All other terms and conditions of the directions will remain unchanged.

The latest move means the bank will continue to operate under the existing regulatory restrictions for an additional three months, with RBI retaining the option to review the directions during this period.
