A training programme on Co-operative Audit, Accounts and Computerisation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) was organised at Amlarem to strengthen the capacity, transparency and functioning of Co-operative Societies.
The programme began with a welcome address by W. Pariat, Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies (SRCS), Amlarem. Addressing the participants, S. T. Blah, Senior Co-operative Officer, stressed the importance of proper accounting and financial record-keeping for ensuring transparency, accountability and effective management.
He highlighted the need to maintain accounts, receipts, vouchers, bank statements and audit reports, noting that proper records are also essential for societies to access various government schemes and grants. He further explained basic accounting concepts, including income, assets, debit and credit.
On PACS computerisation, Miss Nisha Suchiang, System Integrator for PACS Computerisation, BASIN, Jowai, explained the transition from manual to digital record-keeping, highlighting improved accuracy, efficiency and reduced errors.
Pynshaitbor Thongni, Accountant, Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank (MCAB), Amlarem, also addressed the participants. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Miss T. Kharumnuid, SCO, Amlarem.
