The Union Ministry of Cooperation has directed all Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) and National Federations (NF) to complete their geo-tagging by September 30, 2026, using the newly launched NCD GeoTag Mobile Application.
The Office of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS), in a communication to the Chairmen/CEOs/MDs of all MSCS and NFs, said accurate location information of cooperative societies is an important component of the National Cooperative Database (NCD) and will help in planning, monitoring and delivery of various services.
The NCD GeoTag Mobile Application was launched by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on July 6, 2026, to facilitate the easy and accurate capture of GPS locations of functional cooperative societies.
Under the process, an authorised official or representative of an MSCS or National Federation is required to be physically present at the organisation’s premises and use the application to capture its latitude and longitude, along with a photograph of the organisation. The details will then be submitted to the CRCS office for verification and approval.
The Ministry has advised all concerned societies and federations to download the application through the NCD Portal and complete the geo-tagging exercise within the stipulated deadline.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the authenticity and location-based mapping of cooperative institutions under the National Cooperative Database, providing the government with more reliable data for monitoring, planning and delivery of services.
