Development cooperative societies must become more transparent, efficient and dynamic to meet the changing needs of members, said Manish Dalvi, Chairman of the Sindhudurg District Central Cooperative Bank.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony in Vaibhavwadi, Dalvi said the cooperative sector is working to strengthen development societies, with computerisation emerging as a major step towards transparency. Over the past two years, all development societies in the district have been provided computers and software, with secretaries completing 100% computerisation.

He said daily transactions, including deposits, expenditure, loan disbursement and recovery, are now recorded through a dynamic-day system, enabling the District Bank, Cooperation Department, NABARD and governments to monitor operations in real time.

Dalvi particularly praised Vaibhavwadi taluka, where 22 development service cooperative societies achieved 100% loan recovery. He said the taluka had surpassed the earlier benchmark set by Kudal and stressed that farmers who repay loans regularly should receive greater incentives than those benefiting from loan waivers.

The 22 societies were felicitated by the District Bank for their outstanding recovery performance.
