The Ministry of Cooperation has reviewed a proposed Ranking Framework for District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) to promote transparency, healthy competition and improved performance across the cooperative banking sector.
Dr. Ashish Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, reviewed the framework last week, which seeks to provide an objective mechanism for assessing the performance of DCCBs across the country.
The proposed framework will evaluate banks on five broad parameters, Financial Performance, Activities and Services, Infrastructure and Assets, Audit Status, and Profile.
The initiative is aimed at helping DCCBs identify areas for improvement while encouraging the adoption of best practices and stronger operational performance. It will also enable the recognition and showcasing of top-performing cooperative banks.
The ranking exercise is expected to provide a structured basis for comparing DCCBs and encouraging institutions to improve their overall efficiency and service delivery.
The meeting was attended by Shiv Pal Singh, Joint Secretary; Kumar Ram Krishna, Director; and other senior officials of the Ministry of Cooperation.
