The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has distributed sanction letters and financial assistance to fisheries cooperative societies under its Sahakar Innovation Scheme, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the cooperative sector.
At a ceremony organised by the Corporation, NCDC Managing Director Pankaj Kumar Bansal handed over sanction letters and financial assistance cheques to beneficiary cooperatives. The initiative aims to promote innovation, strengthen fisheries infrastructure and enhance sustainable livelihood opportunities for fisher communities through the cooperative model.
NCDC said the financial support will help fisheries cooperatives improve their operational capacity and contribute to the socio-economic development of their members. The Corporation added that the programme reflects its continued efforts to build resilient and self-reliant fisheries cooperatives while advancing inclusive, cooperative-led development and supporting the growth of India’s fisheries sector.
