In a bid to expand the cooperative seed network in Odisha, the Managing Director of Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) held a series of high-level meetings in the state with Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, senior officials of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS), Odisha.
The discussions centred on strengthening the cooperative seed ecosystem by bringing more cooperative societies from Odisha into the BBSSL network.
The proposed collaboration aims to enhance the production, certification, and timely supply of quality seeds to farmers through the cooperative model.
The meetings also explored ways to deepen cooperation between BBSSL and the Odisha Government to promote seed self-reliance and improve access to certified seeds for the farming community.
