The Office of the Co-operative Election Authority (CEA) under the Ministry of Cooperation has approved the election results of the Board of Directors of Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL), Delhi, with Bipinbhai Patel of KRIBHCO and Ram Prakash Chaudhary of NAFED elected unopposed as directors.
According to an order issued by the CEA, the Authority approved the recommendations submitted by the Returning Officer under Rule 19M of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Rules, clearing the way for the formal declaration of the election results. Both directors were elected from the General Category.
The newly elected Board members represent two of India’s premier cooperative institutions, the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd. (KRIBHCO).
Earlier, NAFED had nominated Ram Prakash Chaudhary, Director, as its delegate and representative on the STCL Board through a Board resolution passed on 18 June 2026. Likewise, KRIBHCO, through a Board resolution approved on 23 June 2026, nominated Bipinbhai Naranbhai Patel, Director, as its representative on the STCL Board.
With the Board now in place, cooperative circles are abuzz with speculation that Bipinbhai Naranbhai Patel, who hails from Gujarat and serves as Vice Chairman of GUJCOMASOL, is likely to emerge as the next Chairman of Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd., succeeding Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of GCMMF.
However, no official announcement regarding the election of the Chairman has been made so far.
The CEA has directed the Returning Officer to formally declare the results and ensure that the names of the elected Board members are displayed prominently on the society’s website.
Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd. was established under the Ministry of Cooperation’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” to create a cooperative-based ride-hailing platform owned by drivers themselves.
The multi-state cooperative aims to provide an alternative to private app-based taxi aggregators by ensuring that drivers receive a larger share of earnings without paying high commission charges.
The platform is expected to leverage digital technology to offer transparent, affordable and efficient transport services while generating sustainable livelihoods for taxi drivers.
Several leading cooperative institutions, including GCMMF (Amul), NAFED, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NCEL, NCOL and other national cooperative organisations, are among its promoter members, making Sahakar Taxi one of the flagship cooperative initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation.
