In a major boost to the cooperative dairy sector, the West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited (WAMUL) has begun exporting its flagship Purabi Ice Cream to Bhutan, marking a significant milestone for dairy cooperatives in Northeast India.
The first consignment was flagged off by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The export opens a new chapter for Assam’s cooperative dairy movement by taking a locally produced brand to an international market.
The initiative is expected to create better income opportunities for milk producers, strengthen the dairy value chain and enhance the livelihoods of thousands of dairy farmers associated with the cooperative.
