Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated the new headquarters, ‘Sahakar Bhavan’, of the Jamnagar District Cooperative Bank in Gujarat, describing it as another milestone in advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi.”

Built at a cost of about Rs 25 crore, the state-of-the-art facility is designed to strengthen cooperative banking by offering modern, transparent and farmer-centric financial services to Jamnagar and Devbhumi Dwarka districts.

Shah said the new headquarters complies with RBI and NABARD standards and features a training centre, farmers’ hostel, conference halls, locker facilities and a 200-kW solar power plant, making it a green and future-ready institution.

The bank, established in 1969 with a capital of Rs 2.5 lakh, today has a business of over Rs 215 crore, deposits of around Rs 135 crore, loans worth Rs 780 crore, profits of Rs 24 crore and zero gross NPAs.

Operating through 40 branches, the bank serves over 1.5 lakh members and is linked with 431 service cooperative societies, six dairy unions and 652 milk producer societies.

Shah said the Ministry of Cooperation’s reforms, including expansion of PACS, diversification of cooperative activities and digitalisation, would further strengthen rural prosperity and the cooperative movement.

He also announced plans to visit the new headquarters and interact with cooperative representatives on future expansion initiatives.
