Rameshan Palery, Chairman of ULCCS Ltd., one of India’s leading labour cooperatives, passed away on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest. He was 66.
He had been undergoing treatment for liver cancer at a private hospital in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
His mortal remains will be kept at UL CyberPark in Kozhikode from 3 p.m. on Tuesday to enable the public to pay their last respects, after which they will be taken to his hometown of Vadakara for the final rites.
Born in 1960, Palery was widely regarded as one of the most influential leaders in the Indian cooperative movement.
In a statement, ULCCS described Palery as a visionary leader and inspiring mentor who dedicated his life to the growth of the organisation, the welfare of its employees and their families, and the sustainable development of the region.
Under his leadership, ULCCS evolved into one of the country’s most respected cooperative institutions, expanding its presence across infrastructure, construction, information technology and other sectors while remaining rooted in cooperative values.
Palery was also a strong advocate of employment generation, workers’ welfare and education. One of his most notable achievements was spearheading the establishment of UL CyberPark, the first IT Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Malabar region, creating significant employment opportunities and accelerating regional development.
Describing his death as an irreparable loss, ULCCS extended heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
The organisation said his vision, integrity and unwavering commitment to cooperative principles would continue to inspire future generations and remain the guiding force behind ULCCS’s journey.
