Nepal aims to have strong cooperatives

Cooperative movement is not very strong in our neighbouring states.But atleast Nepal which has a running border with Indian states of Bihar and UP has evinced interest of strengthening its cooperative movement.

The annual general meeting (AGM) of National Co-operative Bank  was held in Kathmandu recently.

The participants of the meeting stressed on the need to include different clauses to promote cooperative sector in Nepal.

The National Cooperative bank was  established 7 years ago and has  branches in 64 districts. The bank has 2,540 cooperatives affiliated with it.

The bank has plans to increase its capital to Rs 250 million this year and increase its members to 3,000 numbers.
