Sugar co-ops bag efficiency awards; Maharashtra tops the chart

National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) has declared their 21 Efficiency Awards 2018-19 for the cooperative sugar mills across India. The awards will be given in NFCSF’s Annual event scheduled to be held on 28th August, 2019 at Delhi.

The award for The Best Coop Sugar Mills in India has been bagged by Chhattrapati Shahu SSK Ltd., Kagal, Kolhapur in Maharashtra. Out of 21 awards Maharashtra has bagged 10 awards and stood first position at national level followed by Uttar Pradesh, which received 4 awards.

Cooperative sugar mills from Haryana, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu state have received two awards each respectively. Madhya Pradesh received one award at national level. This year record 99 Cooperative Sugar Mills across the country participated in the awards competition 2018-19.

NFCSF is the apex body of sugar co-operatives in the country with its office located in upscale area of South Delhi. NFCSF has about 258 cooperative sugar mills and 9 state Cooperative Federations as its members.

In a press release the apex body said that the awardees performance evaluation is done in streams viz., Cane Development, Technical Efficiency and Financial Management based on which maximum scoring mills are awarded.

NFCSF initiated its awards ceremonial function to promote the cooperative sugar mills since its Silver Jubilee Year 1985 under the Chairmanship of Chief Director (Sugar), Ministry of Food & Public Distribution.

The factories have been categorized in two zones namely High Recovery Area (HRA) having recovery 10% and above include Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka. Other Recovery Area (ORA) below 10% recovery comes under state of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, reads the release.
