A sugar cooperative society managed by a minister in Maharashtra govt has decided to expand its business in Africa.
It has taken several thousands of hectares of land on lease Mozambique towards this end. The buzz is that it may take-over a sugar factory as well in Kenya.
The plentiful supply of land and natural resources is supposed to have influenced the Rajarambabu Patil Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana’s decision to begin its industrial activities in Africa.
Sources say minister Jayant Patil’s cooperative boasts an annual turnover of Rs 1000 crore and its entry into Africa is sure to make things easy for other companies willing to work in the continent.
