Entire sugar cooperative is crying aloud to allow more export of sugar but the GOI has simply turned deaf year. Now from October international price will start going downwards when the govt may allow to export!
Indian sugar industry is restless to encash on the high international price but despite assurance from Union Minister K V Thomas, no such clearance has been given yet.
Even agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said on Monday the government should consider allowing five lakh tonnes of additional sugar exports to encash on the current high global prices.
Sugar production has exceeded domestic demand after a gap of two years.
Pawar said the closing stock of sugar is estimated at 6 million tonnes as on September 30 and stock would further rise at the end of the 2011-12 season (October-September).
The minister noted that the export window is open till October this year.
ISMA has demanded increased export a number of times which govt has unheeded so far.
