The apex body of sugar co-ops-National Federation of Cooperative Factories (NFCSF) gave away several Efficiency Awards to winners at a glittering function, organized at the NCUI Auditorium in Delhi on Tuesday. The awards were given away by Sharad Pawar, B L Verma, Dilipwalse Patil, Rajesh Tope and others.
Due to Covid-19, the awards for the last year could not be given away so the awards for two years are being given away now, announced the NFCSF Chairman. There were 42 awards in total bagged by sugar mills spread across the country.
The 21 cooperative sugar factories have been selected for awards across categories for the year 1920-21. The award for the Best Coop Sugar Mills in India has been bagged by Pandurang Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd, Solapur, Maharashtra. Among the 21 winners, Maharashtra figures the top bagging ten Awards while Uttar Pradesh stands second.
Vitthalrao Shinde SSK Ltd, Pimpalner, Maharashtra got the first prize in the Maximum Sugar Export Award, and Sahyadri Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd., Solapur in Maharashtra got the second.
Cooperative sugar mills from Haryana, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu have received two awards each. Madhya Pradesh received one award at the national level.
The 21 cooperative sugar factories have been selected for awards across categories for the year 1919-20 included Bhimashankar Sahkari Sakhar Karkhana from Pune, Sahkari Khand Udyog Mandal from Gujarat and Kisan Sahkari Chinni Mill from Uttar Pradesh.
Others in the list are Dr Patangrao Kadam Karkhana from Sangli, Ajinkyatara Karkhana from Satara, Karnal co-op Sugar mills from Haryana, Vighnahar Karkhana from Pune, Krantiyagrani Karkhana from Sangli, Kaithal Co-op
Sugarmills from Haryana, etc.
The awardees’ performance evaluation is done in streams viz., Cane Development, Technical Efficiency, and Financial Management based on which maximum scoring mills are awarded.
NFCSF initiated its awards ceremonial function to promote the cooperative sugar mills since its Silver Jubilee Year 1985 under the Chairmanship of Chief Director (Sugar), Ministry of Food & Public Distribution.
Readers would recall that the NFCSF generally gives awards to successful co-ops in its Annual General Meeting but due to Covid-19, the federation failed to organize the award ceremony for the past two years, hence, the function on 16th November.
NFCSF is the apex body of sugar co-operatives in the country with its office located in an upscale area of South Delhi. NFCSF has about 258 cooperative sugar mills and 9 state Cooperative Federations as its members.
