Preparing for All India Cooperative week

A meeting of Managing Directors of National level Cooperative Federations  was held at  NCUI in Delhi to decide on the theme and nomenclature of days of 59th All India Cooperative Week 30th April, 2012.

This years All India Cooperative assumes greater significance as it will be celebrated during the International Year of Cooperatives – 2012.

The theme of the AICW is Cooperative Enterprises Build a Better World is same as IYC-2012. The objective of the 59th AICW is to promote the spirit of cooperation among people and emphasize its contributions in socio-economic development.

All India Cooperative Week is be celebrated from national level to grass root level from November 14-20 every year, though with little impact so far.

The Chief Executive of NCUI Dr. Dinesh emphasized on inclusive and equitable growth as the main goals of cooperative movement.

The Chief Director, NCDC Shri W.M. Rizwi stressed upon the need of value addition in Cooperatives.

Shri B.K. Mishra, Managing Director, FISHCOPFED said that the empowerment of women and weaker-section should be the focus of cooperative federations.

The meeting zeroed in on following attainable goals for the 59 th cooperative week: Cooperative Enabling Legislation ;  Inclusive and equitable Growth through Cooperatives  ; Strengthening and Promoting Value Addition in Cooperatives  ;  Promoting Cooperatives in New Emerging Areas ; Professionalization of Cooperatives  ; Cooperative and Entrepreneurship Day ; Empowerment of Women and Weaker-Section through Cooperatives ; for seven days celebration.
