Sanjib Patjoshi a high profile Director of premier cooperative institute Vamnicom has joined as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Panchayti Raj after his case for extension was rejected by the apex cooperative body NCUI.
Patjoshi an IPS officer in the rank of ADG was embroiled in several controversies during his tenure but most of what he felt was his disdain for the current cooperative leadership. His quote that NCUI is a private body was not savoured by many of the members of the Governing Council who prevailed on the President to reject his extension request.
In an SMS Patjoshi worte “ On 18-May-2016 I have joined as Joint Secretary to Government of India Ministry of Panchayati Raj Delhi along with Director ( Joint Secretary rank) National Institute of Cooperative Management & Director SAARC International Center of Agricultural Banking Ministry of Agriculture Govt of India.”
On the phone he said “I am very happy as the scope of doing something concrete is more here. You have to think on all India basis; please let me know any new idea on Panchayati Raj if it comes to your mind in future, said Patjoshi to this correspondent.
Patjoshi quit even when his replacement was yet to be found. “I had to go as my new appointment was made by ACC and I thought there is no point waiting unnecessarily” he said. Though the term of Sanjib Patjoshi ends on June 26 but he decided not to wait and join the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. That he did not even bother to inform the apex body NCUI has not been liked by many.
Controlled as it was by the agricultural ministry Vamicom Director was sure of getting extension. But the tradition of seeking the NCUI opinion in the matter by the ministry ensured his extension would be rejected.
I am satisfied with what I did at Vamnicom; I put it on the map at the national level. It was also recognized by the National Board of Accreditation during my tenure but you cannot remain at a place permanently, he underlined.
Talking about the feud with the faculty Chattopadhayay Patjoshi said the police investigation would continue and Chattopadhyay has to cooperate with the investigation.
Later through an SMS he informed “On 19-April-2016 Pune Higher District court has quashed and cancelled defamation case of P Chatopadhaya . P Chatopadhaya has been terminated from service from Vamnicom by Director Vamnicom vide order DT 17-5-2016.”
The ministry has meanwhile asked NCCT to put up an appropriate advertisement in the newspaper for filling up the post. The search committee is headed by the Agricultural Secretary. Meanwhile, N Satyanarayan has been made officiating Director by the President of NCUI.
