BeFunky_chandra pal singh yadav.jpgNational Cooperative Union of India rubbished the stories appearing in Indian Cooperative on the curtailment of President’s powers in the matters related to NCCT. Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav said that the NCUI leadership has no confrontation with the Ministry whatsoever.

Elaborating Chandra Pal said Ministry never intended to impose its diktat on us and what came to us was in the form of a proposal. The Board meeting of Thursday has rejected the same, he added.

The whole idea started with us in the last to last Board meeting when we wanted to revise the grant-in-aid rule as it violated the original idea, said Yadav.

Digging into history Chandra Pal said it was during Sisodiaji’s time when Sharad Pawar was the Minister that a separate entity to oversee the training was thought of. While Rs 100 crore was given by the government, another Rs 100 crore was added by the cooperative sector. In five years this corpus fund become Rs 300 crores , on the interest of which training needs were met. A committee under the Chairmanship of NCUI President and two government officials along with two cooperators was set up.

Coming to present times NCUI President said “It is as much our money as it is government’s. The NCCT meeting of Wednesday has authorized the Chairman to talk to the Ministry to work out modalities of controlling it. As for as the given proposal is concerned it stands rejected by the Board, he added.

Readers would recall that Ministry had sent a letter on December 3 which suggested removal of NCUI President’s powers. The Board of NCCT comprising of 21 members met on Wednesday.

According to the letter the President of the NCUI would no longer head the subcommittee on ANF (Administrative and Finance), instead, Additional Secretary Finance would do. The President was also removed from the Corpus Fund Sub-Committee. The government removed the President of the NCUI from the Chairmanship of VAMNICOM too.
