It was unusual for the NCUI President to talk about the existing relations between officials of NCUI at the AGM held at N Delhi Saturday. And why on earth had he to issue clarification on the congenial atmosphere prevailing at the NCUI headquarters, ask several employees.
Chandra Pal’s words at AGM were”the relations between the officers and employees at the NCUI are congenial and friendly”. Was he hinting at something else, many employees Indian Cooperative talked to seem to be asking.
The fact that the head of the Organization Chandra Pal Singh Yadav was compelled to reassure the assembled gathering that all is fine, speaks more than it hides, quipped an employee on condition of anonymity.
With the rise of an official with the blessings of the Ministry and a dwindling stature of Chief Executive in its wake have led to such a pass, he said. There are employees who would not pay any heed to the CE’s words and this has caused a drop in his authority.
They cite the case of Somendra Singh, Imphal ICM Chief. It is being said that the NCUI was not able to get him transferred because of the NCUI being a divided house itself.
Employees are clearly divided into groups and the division has vitiated the atmosphere at the apex cooperative body in a big way.
Then there are cases of some of the Governing Council members favouring certain employees. Such employees behave as if they were power unto themselves. Nobody not even the Chief Executive has the power to touch them, said a source.
It was this knowledge of the goings-on at the NCUI, which compelled the President to say, “all is hunky dory ”, he added. But what one wonders is the need to say so at the platform like AGM where delegates from various parts of the country had come to participate.
Since the Governing Council of the NCUI was present in strength, he perhaps chose the occasion to drive home the point, one of the employees, surmised.
