NCUI to organize International Co-operative Day

In order to celebrate International Day of Cooperatives, NCUI has planned a Symposium on the theme “Cooperative Enterprises Achieve Sustainable Development for All” at NCUI Auditorium Complex Saturday.

Mr. Balu Iyer, Regional Director, ICA-AP Mr. Nardeo Singh, Asst. Secy. General, AARDO, and key officials from Ministry of Agriculture will be the main Speakers.

The symposium will celebrate on how cooperatives can be the most preferred model of development by 2020, according to ICA Blue-Print for Cooperative Decade. Besides Symposium, NCUI will also organizing a Painting Competition for the children below 15 years of age on the thematic areas related to cooperative development on the occasion, reads a press conference from NCUI.

The International Cooperative Day as well as the UN International Day of Cooperatives is celebrated on 1st Saturday of July every year. On this occasion, as a matter of rule the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) appeals to its members to promote cooperative movement and support their national and local cooperative initiatives by organizing events, taking part in lobbying, campaign etc.

The ICA and other United Nation Organizations release messages to increase awareness to strengthen cooperatives and strengthen partnership between International Cooperative Movement and other actors including Government at local, National as well as International level.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “Co-operative Enterprises Achieve Sustainable Development for all”. This year’s theme highlights how the cooperatives are best-placed enterprise model to develop & build sustainability in the 21st Century.
