NCUI: Students of prestigious Sanskriti School learn how to form co-ops

The Sanskriti School students recently engaged in a captivating Championship Bout at the NCUI Coop Connect during a dynamic 5-days’ Orientation Program class session. Anurag Dang, the Assistant Director of Finance at NCUI, took the reins of the session, guiding the eager participants through the intricate steps of forming a cooperative.

Dang’s comprehensive lecture covered the essential components of establishing a cooperative, emphasizing key stages such as conducting a thorough Feasibility Study, mobilizing potential members, meticulously crafting a robust Business Plan, drafting a Governing Document, and strategically choosing the appropriate Legal Structure.

The students absorbed these critical insights, laying the groundwork for their cooperative endeavours.

The session took an interactive turn when participants were divided into groups, tasked with the stimulating challenge of crafting innovative business plans for their respective cooperatives. The collaborative efforts of these budding entrepreneurs led to the emergence of four remarkable coop business ideas, each brimming with creativity and practicality.

The first concept proposed was a Marketing Cooperative focused on promoting Geographical Indication (GI) tagged products, offering a platform to showcase and market region-specific goods.

Following closely was the idea of a Students Cooperative dedicated to facilitating the exchange of used books, providing an eco-friendly and cost-effective solution for academic resources.

In the spirit of athleticism, another group envisioned a Sports Cooperative exclusively designed by and for athletes, aiming to enhance collaboration and support within the sporting community. A unique proposition came forth with a Teacher and Student Cooperative catering to educational needs, fostering an environment of shared learning and resource accessibility.

Lastly, a Market Cooperative was conceptualized, aiming to showcase and promote traditional crafts from the heart of the country, celebrating the rich cultural heritage embedded in handmade artifacts.

The event not only showcased the students’ innovative spirit but also highlighted the potential for cooperative models to address diverse needs. The buzz around #CoopYouth and #cooperatives continues to resonate, marking a significant step in fostering a culture of cooperative entrepreneurship among the Sanskriti School students.

Earlier this year in September the co-op apex body NCUI had conducted a one-Day Awareness Program on Cooperatives for Commerce & Management students of Haryana based GD Goenka University at its campus.
