NCUI: Refresher Course on Co-op Policy inaugurated

Inaugurating a five day Refresher Course on Cooperative Policy and Development for the faculty of Indian Universities on 26th August, organized by NCCE, Raj Nehru, Vice Chancellor, Vishwakarma Skill University highlighted the concept of cooperation in ancient times, and said old cooperative legacy must be restored, says a press release issued by NCCE.

The vice-chancellor said the faculty members must reorient their teaching style to suit the demands of the market. He also said that the faculty members must become more like facilitators so as to engage the students. He wanted the students to be given project work to enhance their analytical power.

Pointing out that students are smarter as they have knowledge on every subject through easy access to internet, he said that innovative ways have to be conceptualized so that knowledge is imparted to the students which may have practical applications.

He also said that the faculty members must assess their contribution to teaching work by not merely the number of students taught/trained, but their ability to produce students who have made pioneering contributions in their respective fields.

Speaking on the occasion, N. Satya Narayana, Chief Executive, NCUI said the cooperative model is the best model for sustainable development. He further highlighted the work of NCUI in popularizing cooperative education in schools, colleges and universities.

Dr V. K.Dubey, Director (NCCE) in his introductory speech threw light on the achievements of the cooperative sector, and the importance of this program. More than 30 faculty members of Indian colleges and universities participated in the program. Dr AR Srinath, Director, NCUI coordinated the program.

Some of the important topics covered in the program were – Role of HR in Industrial Relations in Cooperatives, Fertiliser Industry, Attitude in Cooperatives, Challenges before Dairy Cooperatives in India, Taxation Issues in Cooperatives, etc. Some of the key Resource Persons were– Dr Ritu Bajaj, Registrar, Skill Development University, Dr S.C Gupta, GM, IFFCO, etc.
