NCUI President slams Mayawati

NCUI President Mr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav has reacted sharply to Mayawati’s  twisting of cooperative movement’s arms every now and than. She has played with the UP Cooperative act to suit her agenda, Mr Yadav said to Indiancooperative.com.

Now she has raised the tenure of Boards by one year in the hope that Union Cooperative amendment Bill would pass meanwhile, said the President.

Readers may be aware Chief  Minister Mayawati  issued an ordinance extending the tenure of management committees of cooperative societies across the state by one year.

It was the Mayawati government which had first reduced the tenure of elected cooperative bodies from three to two years in September 2007. She did it so that her party members are able to capture cooperative board sooner than later.

Once the cooperative amendment bill is passed her “men” would continue in chair for another five years no matter she wins the next assembly election or not, explained the President of apex cooperative organization NCUI.

Cooperative has traditionally been above politics and no matter to which party one belongs, the bond of cooperative brotherhood is stronger than political loyalties. Cooperative movement is future of India and if any politician is trying to weaken it , he or she is not doing good to the people of the country, said Mr Chandra Pal.

In five years of time Mayawati has wrecked havoc with the cooperative institution of the state, he added.
