NCUI President in campaign mode

The country’s ace cooperator and NCUI President Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav is busy campaigning for his son Yash Pal Singh Yadav who is fighting the UP Assembly elections as the Samajwadi Party- Congress alliance candidate from Babina (Jhansi).

Indian Cooperative caught on with him while he was holding a road show in the Lodh-dominated Badgaon village with about 10 thousand voters. Criss-crossing the narrow lanes of the village he was moving along with supporters shouting slogans.

Meeting old and young, children and women the cooperative leader would stop at every shop as well as household to seek support for his son. People would garland him assuring him of their support.

Chandra Pal has been an old hand in the Babina constituency having lost it by a narrow margin last time.” This time round since Congress and SP have forged an electoral alliance – votes eaten up by the Congress candidate would come to Yashpal and he could have a smooth sailing”, said an onlooker to this correspondent.

There are numerous local issues to be addressed and people were telling him woes of their life-aware that he is capable of solving them as he is not only a Rajya Sabha member but also an important leader of the Samajwadi Party.

On his part Chandra Pal would assure them that once elected he himself and his son Yashpal would apply themselves to fulfilling their expectations.”Believe my words I do not lie your each problem has been noted by me and I would solve them, he said in the village of Nayagaon where people complained of a serious drinking water problem.

Babina is a constituency with voters of all castes-Yadavs, Lodhs, Kushwahas , Brahmins and Muslims and some other minuscule castes. “Given his popularity in the area there should not be any problem winning the seat, said many of his supporters to this correspondent”.

Polling in Babina will take place next Thursday and just six-days are left. Chandra Pal’s day begins meeting people early morning at his residence coming from different parts of the constituency. At his sprawling bungalow  rows of chairs kept at a huge veramdah are occupied by people as the day breaks. It was house-packed when this correspondent visited his place. While meeting them at a pace he also gets ready to launch his day’s campaign to visit various parts of the constituency. On Thursday alone, he covered many places meeting thousands of people.

Feeling peoples’ reaction, Chandra Pal looked relieved. “He is like your son or nephew or a younger brother, he needs your blessings”, Chandra Pal would say underlining the youthfulness of Yashpal who has studied at London School of Business and Finance (LSBF).
