NCUI: Pramod emerges the real hero

PRAMOD KUMAR AND TEAMBy Ajay Jha

The real hero of the NCUI election held on Monday was undoubtedly Pramod Kumar Singh who polled more than 30 votes, far ahead of his rival Mudit Verma in a election where people doubted his victory. Ramesh Bung of Mahesh Bank fame fared poorly by polling 2 votes.

I have never fought had I sensed my defeat, Pramod Kumar Singh had told to Indian cooperative at the very start of launching his campaign. But I admit the contest was keen and this being the largest constituency the struggle was evident, Singh added.

Congratulating him on his victory IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi tweeted “Congratulations 2 #Promod Kumar Singh, Dir #IFFCO 4 coming on Board of #NCUI after winning #Board of Directors Elections.”

Since Mr Singh is also on the Board of the largest farmers’ cooperative IFFCO, there were many IFFCO Directors present at the time of elections to lend moral support to Singh- Shish Pal Singh, Prem Chand Munshi, N P Patel to name only a few.

What seems to have been decisive in case of Pramod’s victory is his positive disposition. Several cooperators, Indian Cooperative talked to were admiring his good-natured disposition and friendliness. He is friend of friends, said many.

Mudit Verma was also not a weak candidate and unlike Dabas there were many in the GC who wanted him to get elected. It is being said that even Chandra Pal favoured him though Bijender Singh was in favour of Pramod.

Verma’s camp, however finds this argument untenable. They argue that Chandra Pal needed him when BSP govt was there but his usefulness was over once SP government was formed in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
