NCCE of NCUI recently conducted a three day leadership development program for chairpersons and directors of multi-state cooperative societies of India. 51 participants representing 5 states viz. Nagaland, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu attended the program.

The participants were pre-dominantly from Employees’ Thrift & Credit Societies followed by Agro-Processing Societies and a few from Urban Cooperative Banks. At the end of the program a half-day tour of some of the historical places of Delhi was organized.

Considering most of the participants were attending such a training program for the first time, topics like cooperative ideology (values & principles), role & responsibilities of board of directors, salient features of MSCS Act, micro-project planning in cooperatives for employment generation, methods of cashless transactions etc were discussed in detail.

Experts who took part in the discussions included NCCE faculty members along with officials from the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.

At the valedictory function, all the participants expressed their satisfaction over the program saying such events be conducted at their registered offices for the benefit of all their members.
