Last week NCUI’s training arm NCCE conducted a Leadership Development Training Programme for 55 Chairmen and Directors of dairy cooperatives from Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan & Uttaranchal.
The prime objective of the programme was to manage Dairy Cooperative Societies professionally and make them viable and effective. The training aimed to offer the participants a common platform where they can share their experiences, claimed a press release from NCCE.
The programme was inaugurated by Lakhan Lal Sahu, Chairman, Chattisgarh Cooperative Union and Governing Council Member of NCUI. In his address, Sahu appreciated the role being played by dairy cooperatives in the country. However, there is a need of professional training, technological upgradation and a seamless communication network to involve more and more farmers in this sector, Sahu emphasized.
Dr. Bushan Tyagi, Assistant Commissioner, GoI, Mo AH&D who was also present on the occasion emphasized that the cooperative dairy sector needs to keep itself informed about different programmes and schemes initiated by the govt from time to time.
In addition, deliberations were made by experts from Government and different renowned institutions on qualities for effective cooperative leadership, role and responsibilities of boards of directors in dairy cooperative societies, feeding, breeding care and management of milch animals, recent changes in cooperative law, experience of central sector scheme for promotion & development of dairy cooperatives, understanding of financial statement and maintaining different account books of society, effective governance for cooperatives. The participants interacted in each and every session, and made their suggestions.
As a part of the training programme, a study visit was undertaken by the participants to Mother Dairy Plant, Patparganj, New Delhi. The senior officials of the plant welcomed the participants and. R.K.R. Pillay, Senior Superintendent, Mother Dairy Plant, Patparganj explained how milk is processed and also explained the technicalities involved in it. He accompanied the participants on their visit to all the units of the plant.
The participants were also provided with knowledge the latest technologies, responsibilities in the management of dairy cooperative societies & challenges confronting them. The programme concluded on 25th April 2018.
